What should my child bring on the first day of school?
A backpack, a snack, a lunch, and a water bottle.
What time does school start and end?

7:45 am Gates Open and students can play on the playground

7:57 am Line-Up Bell

8:00 am School Start Bell and Gates Shut

2:20 pm Dismissal Monday-Thursday (Kindergarten gates open at 2:15 pm) and 12:45 pm Fridays

What time is lunch?

What is a Spirit Day?

Days where the students are encouraged to show their OPE Spirit and wear their OPE logo t shirt or sweatshirt. Frequently on these days, there will also be an all school assembly at the lunch area in the morning. The PTA’s Spirit Wear sale is at the beginning of the school year.

Do I need to purchase school supplies for my child?

No. Funds raised from PTA membership are used to purchase and distribute school supplies for all children based on a list their teacher provides.

I am new to OPE. How can I get more information about school and get to know other families?

Whether you are a new kindergartener or a family joining OPE for the first time, we extend a warm welcome to you. Acting as our family liaison is Jessica Beaumont, who can connect you with grade level representatives. These representatives can help you connect with other families in your grade for playdates, birthday celebrations, finding sports teams involving OPE students, and many other activities. What is California Day?

On Gold Rush Day the 4th grade takes over the ball field and runs a simulated 1850s mining camp town after weeks of preparation. Parents are also very involved in the event day and dress up too! This event is a grade level program and is not funded by the PTA.

What are New Student Play Dates?

Over the summer a number of play dates are planned for incoming kindergartners, students and families that are new to OPE. This is a great opportunity to become acquainted with other students and families at our school. All play dates are at SUN VISTA PARK playground on Avenida La Posta at Rancho Santa Fe Road (across RSF Road from OPE). Please note there are no public restrooms at the park. Check the PTA website calendar or contact the PTA New Parent Liaison for the current summer dates.

What is the School Site Council?

The School Site Council develops a plan and budget to allocate the supplemental funds EEF raises through parent contributions to fund POSITIONS. The board is comprised of administrators, teachers, and parents. Their focus is to provide our children with the best education possible. The School Site Council holds a monthly meeting listed on the calendar open to the school parent population.

What is the Room Representative Fund?

Room representatives request money per student at the beginning of the year to be used for Staff Appreciation Week, grade level treats for the staff (each grade provides treats once per school year), and class parties. These funds are separate from the PTA Programs.

How do new families get involved in the community?

What is Dad's Club?

The Dads Club is a monthly gathering of fathers and father figures who come together at various venues such as bars, poker nights, or other enjoyable activities. It serves as an opportunity to build connections and enhance our school community. Additionally, the Dads Club offers assistance in event preparation and cleanup, lending their volunteering efforts and physical strength when required.
