Building a Love of Reading
OPE READS encourages readers at all levels to set aside time in their busy schedules to discover the joy of reading for pleasure. Kids who read outside of the classroom have larger vocabularies, demonstrate improved spelling skills, and develop more competent writing abilities.
Last year alone, our OPE students read over 1 million minutes in 9 weeks!
Students need to read at least 800 minutes outside of the classroom to begin earning a medal. The more they read, the higher the medal level they can achieve.

Reading Hours Tracking Sheet
This year, we have gone ONLINE!!! Instead of the paper reading logs, we have set up online forms where parents/students can log in online their reading minutes. For daily tracking at home, students can use the one-page calendar tracker that was sent home.
Each week, please have you or your child log their reading minutes using the link below FOR YOUR CLASS
Your involvement in OPE READS will help your child build a multitude of skills and develop a lasting love of reading. Thank you for your help in making OPE READS a success for our students this school year!
