OPE READS
Encourage, challenge, and support your children to read books outside of the classroom to earn rewards, achieve their reading goals, and grow their love for books.
A 16-week, school-wide reading competition.
Friday, Oct. 2nd – Friday, Jan. 22nd, 2021
Building a Love of Reading
OPE READS encourages readers at all levels to set aside time in their busy schedules to discover the joy of reading for pleasure. Kids who read outside of the classroom have larger vocabularies, demonstrate improved spelling skills, and develop more competent writing abilities. Last year alone, our OPE students read over 1.2 million minutes in 16 weeks!
Students need to read at least 1,200 minutes outside of the classroom to begin earning a medal. The more they read, the higher the medal level they can achieve.

Beanstack
This year we are tracking reading minutes using Beanstack, located on your students’ iPad. All students will use Clever to access the site. Each day your child should log their reading minutes.
Your involvement in OPE READS will help your child build a multitude of skills and develop a lasting love of reading. Thank you for your help in making OPE READS a success for our students this school year!
